The goal of
the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans is basically answered in the
title. These guidelines help make people
make healthier decisions on choosing what we eat. In our text, the Dietary Guidelines for
Americans recommends, “four major topic areas: balancing calories to manage
weight, foods and food components to reduce, foods and nutrients to increase,
and building healthy eating patterns” (Sizer & Whitney, 2012) . On the main webpage of the Dietary Guidelines
for Americans suggest we should consume fewer foods with sodium, saturated
fats, added sugars and refined grains.
